HOME OF LISBON SAUERKRAUT DAYS
1909 * Sauerkraut Days Centennial * 2009

Welcome to the Lisbon, IA RAGBRAI website!!

Lisbon was honored to be on the 2008 RAGBRAI bike ride route. We were thrilled to provide riders and visitors alike with a day of fun, food, entertainment and friendship.  Outside events started at 6:00 AM and continued until 2:00 PM. T-Shirts are still available, see below!!!

RAGBRAI pictures from the 25th are now available in the Photo Gallery. Take a look!

The U.S. Postal Service issued a very special cancellation stamp to honor Lisbon's "Kraut Gone Wild" RAGBRAI celebration.  This cancellation stamp is available through the Lisbon Post Office but only for the next month.  Call the Post Office at 319-455-2525 for information as to how you may get this special cancellation. Their address is 129 West Main Street, Lisbon, 52253.

The presidential poll dumpsters were a great hit as well. Senator Obama won by about three to one. The plan is to put these beautifully airbrushed pieces of art on ebay in the near future. Check back here for details. Bid high and bid often!

The fun continued Friday afternoon and evening with the Fireman's Street Dance.  Food, drink, live music, movie (Lisbon City Park), and more.  Festivities started at 2:15PM and continued until midnight.

Please join us for Lisbon Sauerkraut Days, too, on August 7th and 9th, 2008 in downtown Lisbon.  Carnival rides, food, drink, live entertainment, bathtub races, parade, kids tractor pull, and lots more.  See the Sauerkraut Days website for details at www.sauerkrautdays.com.

                        SPECIAL LISBON EVENT!!

The Chicago Urban Bicycling Society (CUBS)
had selected Lisbon as Friday's location for KYBO Roulette, one of the most unique charitable fundraising activities found on RAGBRAI. All proceeds went to Camp Courageous from an event broadcast by Iowa TV stations, reported in newspapers, and popularized further by Brian Duffy in his prize-winning cartoons in the Des Moines Register.

Bikers and non-bikers were encouraged to gather and participate in the KYBO fun---a competition involving the portable toilets set up for riders in downtown Lisbon.

Many thanks to the C.U.B.S. for selecting Lisbon.
